Backpackers and resort, theres two words that you don’t usually put together. Dont let the name full you, Arenal Backpackers Resort is definitely priced for budget travelers. As the name would suggest though, the hostel is filled with luxuries that most backpackers will find quite exotic.
Arenal Backpackers Resort is a new resort in the La Fortuna area and has easily become the most popular place for backpackers to stay. Arenal Backpackers Resort advertises its self as a five star hostel and they arent exagerating. If they added room service to the package they could easily triple their rates.
So what makes Arenal Backpackers Resort a five star hostel? Lets start with the key card entry rooms. The dorm rooms are large, spacious, air conditioned, and always spotlessly clean. Inside of the dorm rooms you will find a locker room (must provide your own lock), and a private bathroom. Bathrooms here come with hot water, a large counter area, and of course a toilet.
There are also a number of community restrooms and showers on the property. Unfortunately, these public showers do not have hot water. The hostel no longer has a community kitchen. There is a restaurant in the works, but at the time of this printing it is still under construction.
The staff here is extremely nice and very willing to help no matter how annoying you fell. There is also an Exploredores Outdoors reservation station on the property. The staff at this counter is also very helpful in planning free trip or making reservations.
