I spent 4 days in Arenal and 4 weeks in Monteverde and the whole area is magical. Waking up in the morning and seeing a live volcano towering above you really is a unique experience I will never forget.

There is so much to do in the area from excursions, extreme sports, learning Spanish and I took advantage of a lot of them – here are my recommendations.

Monteverde – Night Trek (all hotels will organise)
Monteverde – Zip Lining (again, all hotels will organise bu try and go with the Extreme Zip Line company).
