Long Term Rentals

There are many reasons to rent a house or apartment in Costa Rica. Renting can be an affordable way to live while you search the country for homes and property. Your rental house can serve as a “home base” so that you can venture out on day trips to look at property and houses, but still have somewhere to come back to.

Renting is also an affordable way to live while you are having your house built. Many places offer six month rentals. These shorter rentals may have a slightly higher price, but nothing extreme.

Average Costs of Renting
You can spend as much or as little as you want when it comes to rental properties. Smaller apartments and houses can range from $300 – $600 a month. These rental properties are usually one or two bedroom houses and apartments.

At this price, you may or may not, get a furnished apartment. Be sure to ask about this when looking for a rental property. There is really no telling what type of property you will get for the money. You may be lucky enough to find a hostel on the beach that has a rental house at a very cheap price. If you spend enough time searching for properties, you are sure to find something that suites your needs, wants, and price range.

If you feel like renting a more luxurious house on prime real estate, you can expect to spend $1,000 and up. For $1000 to $3,000 you will get much larger and exotic house. These house usually sit on nice sized pieces of land in excellent locations. The houses will usually be around three or four bedrooms and come fully furnished.

As with all things real estate, the more money you spend, the more you get. There are beach front properties and mountain side homes with every luxury you can think of. If you are willing to spend the money, there are plenty for the taking.

Looking for Rentals
The best way to locate great rental properties is by word of mouth. You can’t beat the rental deals you will hear about from locals. Spend some time traveling around in hostels and hotels. Talk to the owners and locals about places for rent in the area. This information can be invaluable.

By talking to hotel owners, you will get great advice about the area, where to live, where not to live, costs of living, and more. They may even know about rental properties in the area. These types of rental properties are almost never seen on the internet or in ads.
